    Coffee was discovered growing in Guatemala during the mid-18th century. It was only during the mid-19th century that it was grown commercially. Its potential as a cash crop was clear to the country, and Guatemala distributed one millions seeds across the country to encourage and promote a thriving coffee sector. The flip side to Guatemala’s explosive industry meant that there was a lot of land loss for many indigenous farmers. Civil war during the mid-20th century resulted in widespread damage and destruction to many coffee farms. Nowadays, Guatemala has recovered its industry, and is now established as a major global producer. It holds a solid reputation for high quality coffee and a supported sustainable industry. This coffee is known for its balance of floral aromas, nutty chocolate flavours, and a deep wine-like acidity.

    Guatemala’s coffee harvest season begins in October, tends to peak during December to January, and ends around February to March. You’ll need to plan your sourcing well before October so that you can acquire the best beans for your business.

    You should find no trouble sourcing coffee from the many growing regions of Guatemala. You can begin research by looking at cooperatives such as The Federación de Cooperativas Agrícolas Guatemala (FEDECOCAGUA). If you are looking to initiate direct trade or explore specific microlots, you can contact cooperatives such as FEDECOCAGUA who will then be able to direct you to these individual producers. It can help to have some knowledge of the Spanish language as this acts as the official language of the country. Plus, every coffee comes with a detailed, easy-to-read cupping report where we break down the scores using SCA protocol and list all the flavor notes. How fast will I get my order?

If you choose express shipping, your order could arrive in as little as 24 hours (depending on your location). For most orders, if you place it before 12pm, we’ll ship it out the same day! Otherwise, it’ll be dispatched the next day. We aim to get your coffee to you as quickly as possible.
