  • What makes Guatemalan coffee so distinctive?

    Guatemalan coffee is shaped by a unique mix of altitude, climate, and mineral-rich volcanic soil. The country’s diverse microclimates result in a wide spectrum of flavours, from crisp citrus and floral notes to deep chocolate and wine-like complexity.

    Slow cherry maturation is key to Guatemala’s distinctive character. The cooler temperatures at higher elevations allow the sugars to develop gradually, creating coffees that are vibrant, well-structured, and full of nuance. Many farms grow traditional varietals like Caturra, Catuai, and Bourbon, each contributing its own subtle influence to Guatemala’s rich coffee landscape.

  • Where is coffee grown in Guatemala?

    San Marcos experiences some of the country’s highest rainfall, creating coffees with bright acidity, a full body, and delicate floral notes. Acatenango, situated on volcanic slopes, produces balanced coffees with pronounced acidity and a clean finish.

    In Atitlán, rich volcanic soil and daily winds from the lake contribute to a full-bodied coffee with striking acidity. Cobán, located in a humid subtropical forest, delivers beans with a round body and crisp citrus notes.

    Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most remote coffee regions, is known for its complex flavour profiles, intense acidity, and wine-like characteristics. Fraijanes benefits from high altitude and volcanic activity, producing coffees with fresh acidity and deep complexity.

    Antigua, perhaps the most renowned of all, offers exceptional sweetness, a rich aroma, and an elegant structure thanks to its consistent climate and fertile soil.

How do I know your coffees are top quality?

We totally get it - quality is everything! That’s why we offer samples for almost all our coffees, so if you’re unsure, you can try it yourself before committing. Plus, every coffee comes with a detailed, easy-to-read cupping report where we break down the scores using SCA protocol and list all the flavour notes. We’re all about transparency, so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting!

Are your coffees ethically and sustainably sourced?

Absolutely! We source all our coffees either directly from producers or through trusted sourcing partners who are just as committed to ethical practices as we are. We take the time to ensure the people behind the coffee are treated fairly. If you want to learn more, you can dive into our values.

How fast will I get my order?

If you choose express shipping, your order could arrive in as little as 24 hours (depending on your location). For most orders, if you place it before 12pm, we’ll ship it out the same day! Otherwise, it’ll be dispatched the next day. We aim to get your coffee to you as quickly as possible.

Do you offer support for direct trade relationships with producers?

Yes, we’re always happy to make introductions! If you’re interested in working directly with one of our producers, just send us an email (hello@greencoffeecollective.com) and we’ll gladly help facilitate the connection. For larger volumes, we can also assist with logistics and any complexities involved in sourcing directly from producers.

Do you offer samples or trial batches before committing to larger orders?

Yes, we offer samples for most of our coffees. If you need a larger sample than what’s typically available, we recommend trying one of the smaller quantity options listed on our site. That way, you can test the coffee before committing to a larger order.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for large-scale or long-term contracts?

For larger-scale or long-term contracts, you can start with as little as a single bag. We’re also working on tools to help you access harvests and reserve coffees before they even leave the country. While it’s not fully ready yet, we’re always here to help roasters of any size connect with the producers they want to work with.

How do you handle logistics and shipping for larger orders?

We’ve got you covered! For larger orders, we offer full logistical support, including freight, warehousing, and inventory management. We’ll make sure the process is as smooth and hassle-free as possible, so you can focus on roasting great coffee. If you’re shipping internationally, we can also assist in ensuring smooth delivery.
