Infused Green Coffee Beans

Infused Green Coffee Beans

Unroasted infused green coffee for roasters. Infused coffees have something other than coffee added during processing – fruit, spices, juices or flavourings – to shape the cup. It's one of the most debated topics in specialty, so we list exactly what's been added on every lot. Infused lots are small and sell quickly; if nothing's listed below, browse our wider fermented and experimental ranges. Or browse our complete green coffee list to compare processing styles. Looking for roasted coffee? These are raw beans you roast yourself – here's how to start.

  • What infused coffee is

Infusion covers a range of methods: fermenting coffee alongside fruit (co-fermentation), adding fruit juice or pulp to the tank, adding spices, or – at the far end – adding flavourings or oils. What they share is that some of the flavour comes from outside the coffee. Our co-fermented coffee guide explains what to expect in the cup.

  • Why infused coffee is debated

Supporters see it as creative processing. Critics argue that flavour added from outside the coffee undermines what specialty grading is meant to reward, and that undisclosed infusions mislead buyers. Our position is simple: say what's in it. If a lot is infused, the product page says with what, so you and your customers can decide.

  • Infused vs fermented, inoculated and thermal shock

Most experimental coffees aren't infused. Anaerobic, extended, yeast-inoculated and thermal shock lots develop their flavour from the coffee itself and its fermentation. Yeast is a processing tool rather than a flavour ingredient, so we don't class inoculated lots as infused.

Your questions, answered

What is infused coffee?

Coffee that has had other ingredients – such as fruit, spices, juices or flavourings – added during processing, so their flavours become part of the green bean.

Is infused coffee the same as flavoured coffee?

Not quite. Flavoured coffee is usually roasted coffee coated with flavourings after roasting. Infused coffees take on flavour during processing, before the coffee is dried and exported as green beans.

Is co-fermented coffee infused?

Co-fermentation – fermenting coffee with fruit – is one form of infusion, because some flavour comes from outside the coffee. We label co-fermented lots so it's clear what you're buying.

Can infused coffee be specialty grade?

It can score highly on the cupping table, but many in the industry argue it shouldn't be judged alongside coffees with nothing added. Disclosure is the key issue, which is why we always state it.

Do you offer samples or trial batches before committing to larger orders?

Yes, we offer samples for most of our coffees. If you need a larger sample than what’s typically available, we recommend trying one of the smaller quantity options listed on our site. That way, you can test the coffee before committing to a larger order.

What sizes or quantities can I order?

All our green coffee beans come in 0.5kg, 1kg and 5kg bags. Approved wholesale accounts can also order 10kg and 20kg at lower per-kilo prices, and for full sacks or anything larger, just get in touch – we'll help you put a custom order together.
