Aeropress Brewer

Green Coffee Beans for Aeropress

Unroasted green coffee for Aeropress brewing. The Aeropress combines immersion with a paper filter and a little pressure, so it handles almost anything – these lots lean towards sweetness and body, with plenty of naturals and honeys plus experimental lots that reward a richer extraction. Most come from Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia, Mexico and Peru. Buy from 0.5kg with samples on most lots – and for something unusual to dial in, see our experimental process green coffee beans. Looking for roasted coffee? These are raw beans you roast yourself – here's how to start.

  • What makes a coffee good for Aeropress

Because you control steep time, grind and pressure, the Aeropress is one of the most forgiving brewers. It tends to emphasise sweetness and body more than pour over, so naturals, honeys and fermented lots shine, while bright washed coffees come across rounder than in a V60. Our Aeropress buyer's guide covers selection in more depth.

  • Roasting for Aeropress

There's no single right roast – light roasts work with longer steeps and hotter water, medium roasts with shorter ones. If you're roasting one batch for several methods, a medium-light roast with good development is a safe middle ground.

  • Aeropress vs other methods

For a heavier, unfiltered immersion cup, see French press. For the clean, bright end of filter, see pour over. Many Aeropress coffees also make good black espresso.

Your questions, answered

What are the best green coffee beans for Aeropress?

Almost any well-roasted coffee works, but sweet naturals and honeys and characterful experimental lots make the most of it.

Do I need a special roast for Aeropress?

No. Light to medium roasts both work; adjust steep time, grind and water temperature to suit.

Can I make espresso with an Aeropress?

Not true espresso – it doesn't reach espresso pressure – but a short, strong concentrate works well in milk drinks.

Are Aeropress coffees good for beginners?

Yes. The Aeropress is forgiving, which makes it a good way to taste and compare your first roasts.

Do you offer samples or trial batches before committing to larger orders?

Yes, we offer samples for most of our coffees. If you need a larger sample than what’s typically available, we recommend trying one of the smaller quantity options listed on our site. That way, you can test the coffee before committing to a larger order.

What sizes or quantities can I order?
