Kaffelogic Roasters

Green Coffee Beans for Kaffelogic Roasters

The Kaffelogic Nano 7 is a fluid-bed roaster: hot air lifts and turns the beans, and the roast follows a profile rather than manual inputs. With batches of up to 120g, a small bag goes a long way, so the Kaffelogic is one of the best machines for working through lots of different coffees. It's how we'd suggest using this collection, too.

  • How far does a bag of green coffee go in a Kaffelogic?

At a typical 100–120g batch, a 0.5kg bag gives you four or five roasts and a 1kg bag around eight to ten. That makes 0.5kg the right size for trying a new origin, and 1kg or 5kg for a coffee you keep coming back to. Building a small batch bundle is an easy way to try several lots at once.

  • Which coffees suit air roasting in a Kaffelogic?

Air roasters move heat into the bean quickly and evenly, which suits bright, high-grown washed coffees from places like Kenya and Ethiopia. Very small or broken beans can get blown around or roast unevenly, so screen size matters more than on a drum. Most of our lots are graded to a consistent screen. Naturals work well too; choose a profile with a slightly gentler development.

  • Matching a Kaffelogic profile to the coffee

Kaffelogic's built-in profiles are a good starting point: pick by roast level and let the roaster do the work for your first few batches. Once you know how a coffee tastes on the default, try the profile one step lighter or darker and compare. Denser coffees usually want more energy early; softer honey and natural lots often taste sweeter with a little less.

Your questions, answered

What batch size should I use in my Kaffelogic Nano 7?

Kaffelogic profiles are designed around specific batch weights, so match the weight the profile expects. Most profiles assume 100–120g. Weighing to the gram matters more on a small air roaster than on a large drum, because a few grams make a bigger percentage difference.

How long does a Kaffelogic roast take?

Most Kaffelogic profiles run for roughly 8–12 minutes, plus a cooling cycle. Lighter profiles are shorter. Because the roaster follows the profile automatically, you can focus on tasting the results rather than watching the clock.

Can I use a Kaffelogic indoors?

Yes. At around 100–120g a batch the Nano 7 produces relatively little smoke, and many owners roast under a kitchen extractor hood. Darker roasts produce more smoke, so open a window if you take a coffee into second crack.

What's the best way to try lots of coffees on a Kaffelogic?

Buy 0.5kg bags of several coffees, or build a small batch bundle, and roast each one on the same profile first. Comparing them side by side is the quickest way to learn which origins and processes you like. Our home roaster comparison explains where the Kaffelogic sits among other machines.

How long do green coffee beans last, and how do you store them long term?
