Name Johan Vergara
Year Started 1990
Location San Isidro in Pitalito, Huila See on a map

Farm Las Flores, nestled in Cundinamarca, Colombia, was founded in 1990 by Edilberto Vergara and Nubia Ayure with a modest 2 hectares of coffee plants. By 1998, the farm had expanded to 16 hectares, growing alongside the family’s passion for coffee. As the next generation took the reins, Johan Vergara and his siblings, Carlos and Diego, deepened their expertise, introducing specialty varieties like Java, Pink Bourbon, and Castillo, and embracing advanced cultivation techniques.

Guided by a commitment to quality, the Vergara family integrates innovative processing methods—natural, honey, and washed—to bring out unique flavors that honor their rich terroir. In 2019, Johan’s victory in the Master of Coffee contest marked a turning point, elevating their reputation and fueling their ambition to excel. Today, Las Flores is more than a coffee farm; it’s a hub of sustainable agriculture and knowledge-sharing. The family envisions positioning Las Flores as a leader in the coffee world, driven by a dedication to quality, sustainability, and the forward-thinking spirit that defines their journey.

Cata Export

Countries of operation Colombia
Established date 2019

Cat is a product and graphic designer and Pierre is a composer, guitarist and a singer who decided to swap careers to drink coffee all day long with a purpose.

After training and working for many years as a specialty coffee barista in the UK, we were inspired to move into the green coffee trade in the country we love and know best, Colombia.

We now apply our expertise to find the best beans at origin, whilst matching European quality standards and building long term relationships with local farmers.

After 5 years trading coffee worldwide Cat and Pierre became producers in their farm called Cata Reserva in Timana Huila. It is a 30 hectares farm which half of it is a natural reserve. As exporters with a vision on traceability saw the positive impact on the producers farm like Nestor Lasso, today they became producers to carry on exchanging knowledge now not only from a exporter perspective but through a producers view too. Cata's attention to detail on regenerating the land with clean agriculture protocols as well as connecting with a community will benefit both ends production and roasters trade.

The intelectual part of coffee is fun, we want to share what we know, we want to learn too, we want to connect better for a better trade sustainable for all.
