84.5 Cup Score

This washed Bugisu AA lot comes from smallholders farming the volcanic slopes of Mt. Elgon in eastern Uganda. The AA grade means over 90% of the beans are screen 17+ with a low defect count - a reliable indicator of quality and uniformity.

Grown on plots under 2.5 hectares, this lot is Rainforest Alliance Certified, with producers following climate-smart practices that support biodiversity, soil health, and water conservation.

Coffee is handpicked, pulped with small-scale equipment, fermented, and sun-dried on raised beds or patios. With growing access to processing infrastructure, Uganda’s smallholder model is steadily delivering more well-prepared specialty lots like this one.

Sucafina

Countries of operation Global

Sucafina isn’t our typical partner, they’re a global coffee network, not a regional specialist. But they play a key role in helping us source reliable commercial-specialty coffees that are ethically produced, taste great, and come in at a solid price point.

We teamed up with Sucafina strategically to access consistent volumes for blends and subscription lines, without compromising on traceability. Their Farmgate Initiative and open pricing align with our values, and let us keep things transparent across the board.

This partnership means we can continue backing small producers while also keeping your go-to brews dependable and fairly priced. We know this setup is a bit outside our usual model, so we're sharing it openly. If you want to know more, just ask - we’re always happy to chat through the details.
