Nestled in the village of Pueblo Nuevo Viñas, between the towering Tecuamburro and Pacaya volcanoes in the Santa Rosa Department of Guatemala, lies the remarkable Santa Ana coffee farm. Perched on the mountain of La Gavia, Santa Ana is one of three neighboring farms managed as a collective, alongside Amatillo and Idolia. Each of these farms boasts unique coffee varieties and distinct flavor profiles, reflecting the rich diversity of this extraordinary region. In our 2023 shipment, we're excited to offer coffee from Amatillo as well, bringing you a taste of this distinct terroir.

Santa Ana’s success story is rooted in the 30 years of dedication from its founder, Roberto Díaz Marroquín. A passionate coffee enthusiast, Roberto meticulously managed every aspect of the farm—from planting and harvesting to processing—building an internationally recognized coffee brand. His unwavering focus on quality has resulted in Finca Santa Ana becoming a symbol of Guatemalan excellence.

The farm cultivates prized coffee varieties such as Bourbon and Catuaí, shaded by native trees that enhance both flavor and aroma. The farm’s altitude, volcanic soil, and optimal rainfall create the ideal conditions for producing coffee with exceptional character. Strict harvesting practices ensure only perfectly ripe cherries are selected, while careful wet milling and sun drying maintain the coffee’s remarkable quality.

Finca Santa Ana’s coffees have earned international acclaim, with frequent appearances among the finalists in the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition. This recognition highlights the farm's dedication to producing some of Guatemala's finest coffees year after year.

Caribbean Goods

Countries of operation Guatamala
Established date 2018

Caribbean Goods was founded with a clear vision: to make coffee farming in Guatemala fair and sustainable for the hardworking farmers who dedicate their lives to producing exceptional coffee. The company’s founder, Javier Gutiérrez Abril, has deep roots in Guatemala, having grown up in Guatemala City and even attending school with some of the farmers Caribbean Goods partners with today.

Javier’s early experiences shaped his passion for social justice and education. Growing up surrounded by poverty, violence, and limited opportunities, he was driven to create change. Through volunteering with organizations like Techo para mi País and Soñar Despierto, and supporting orphaned children at Casa Bernabé, Javier found his purpose in making the world a better place. His belief that education is key to a brighter future has fueled his activism and dedication to building a more sustainable, equitable world.

After earning a degree in Engineering from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, Javier pursued further education in Scotland, obtaining a degree in Finance from Strathclyde University in 2017. It was there that Caribbean Goods was born, a company driven by his mission to contribute to a greener planet and uplift the communities at the heart of Guatemalan coffee production.
