From the fertile highlands of Finca La Familia comes a coffee born from passion and collaboration. Selectively harvested at peak ripeness, the cherries undergo a meticulous process: floated in water to remove defects, then pulped and sealed in for a 48-hour fermentation. This step enhances the coffee’s natural complexity, unlocking crisp green apple brightness and a rich caramel sweetness. Solar drying for 25 days completes the journey, deepening the profile with smooth dark chocolate undertones.

More than just a coffee farm, Finca La Familia represents a commitment to sustainable, organic farming practices. By nurturing the health of their soil and environment, they create not just exceptional coffee but a legacy of eco-friendly cultivation. Led by Franklin and a team of young dreamers, the farm is continually innovating, aiming to bring their coffee to the world stage while improving the future for their families.

Each sip of Finca La Familia coffee tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship. This coffee delivers a uniquely balanced and memorable experience—perfect for those who value exceptional quality and a connection to the people behind the cup.

Name Rogelio Peña Huaman - Finca La Familia
Year Started 2020
Location San José de Lourdes See on a map

Rogelio Peña Huaman is a lifelong coffee farmer from Nazareth de la Cumbre, a town nestled in the San Ignacio Province of Cajamarca, Peru. In 2020, Rogelio, together with his son Franklin Peña Huaman, embarked on a transformative journey to elevate their coffee production by founding Finca La Familia, a family-led initiative dedicated to producing high-quality specialty coffee.

Franklin, an experienced agricultural technician, envisioned uniting his family and neighboring producers to process and sell their coffee directly to national and international buyers. While Rogelio initially hesitated, concerned about the risks and complexities of direct marketing, he placed his trust in Franklin’s expertise. Franklin brought a wealth of knowledge in post-harvest processing, while Rogelio and the family contributed generations of skill in cultivating coffee with care and precision.

Today, Finca La Familia spans 25 hectares and operates as a collaborative effort among six families, including the Peña Huamans. Their shared dedication has transformed their coffee into a symbol of community, quality, and innovation, bringing the rich flavours of Nazareth de la Cumbre to coffee lovers worldwide.
