Seasonal Green Coffee Beans

Seasonal Green Coffee Beans

Unroasted green coffee that follows the harvest. Our seasonal coffees are bought fresh each crop, in limited amounts, through importers who specialise in their regions – and once a lot sells out it's gone until next year. Expect East African and Central American coffees to land through late spring and summer, with Brazil and Peru arriving in autumn and Colombia appearing for much of the year thanks to its two harvests. It's the part of the list that changes most, so it's where to look for single farms, specific varieties and processing worth building a menu around. Buy from 0.5kg with samples on most lots, and see what's just landed in our new arrivals. Looking for roasted coffee? Everything here is raw – here's how to start roasting.

  • How our seasonal range works

Each seasonal coffee is a specific lot from a specific harvest – often a single farm, washing station or cooperative. We buy what we think is worth roasting, list it with its cupping score and processing details, and when it's gone we replace it with whatever's best from the next crop rather than a lookalike. If you want a coffee that stays on the shelf all year, our staple green coffee beans are built for that instead.

  • When new crop coffees arrive

Coffee is harvested once or twice a year depending on origin, then needs drying, milling and shipping before it reaches us. Roughly: Ethiopian and Kenyan coffees arrive from late spring, Central Americans from Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua through summer, Brazilian and Peruvian lots in autumn and winter, and Rwandan and Burundian coffees towards the end of the year. Weather and shipping move these windows around, so treat them as a guide.

  • Why fresh crop matters to roasters

Green coffee slowly loses moisture and aromatics over time. Fresh-crop lots usually roast more vibrantly, with clearer acidity and more distinct flavour, while older coffee can taste flatter or woody. That doesn't make past-crop coffee bad – well-stored lots stay very roastable, which is why some move into our clearance range at a lower price – but if you're chasing clarity, newer is better.

  • Sourced through regional specialists

We buy seasonal coffees through importers and partners who focus on one region and work with the same producers year after year. They cup widely at origin, which gives us access to small lots we couldn't find on our own, plus the traceability – farm, variety, altitude, process – that's on every product page. Our most distinctive arrivals sit in the 85–88 scoring range.

Your questions, answered

What are seasonal green coffee beans?

Limited lots bought fresh from each harvest. They're available until they sell out, then replaced by new coffees from the next crop rather than restocked.

When do new seasonal coffees arrive?

Throughout the year, following harvest calendars at origin. East Africa and Central America tend to land late spring to summer, Brazil and Peru in autumn, and Colombia across much of the year.

Why do seasonal coffees sell out?

We buy them in limited quantities, often whole small lots. Once they're gone there's no more of that harvest – if you like one, it's worth buying enough to see you through.

Are seasonal coffees better than staple coffees?

Not better, different. Seasonal lots are more distinctive and traceable; staples are chosen for consistency. Many roasters use both – a staple for the house blend, seasonal coffees for filter and guest espresso.

Which origins are in the seasonal range?

It changes with the harvest, but usually includes Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua and coffees from Asia such as Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

What does 'fresh crop' mean?

Coffee from the most recent harvest for that origin. Lots from an earlier harvest are called past crop – still roastable when stored well, but usually a little less vibrant.

Can I buy seasonal coffee in small amounts?

Yes. Every seasonal lot comes in 0.5kg and 1kg bags, with samples on most, so you can try several coffees before committing to 5kg.

How should I store seasonal green coffee?

Cool, dry, dark and airtight, away from strong smells. Stored like that, green coffee keeps its quality for months – see our storage guide.

Can I get notified when a coffee is back?

Seasonal lots don't usually come back once sold out, but new harvests from the same producers often do. Keep an eye on new arrivals for the latest coffees.

Do you offer samples or trial batches before committing to larger orders?

Yes, we offer samples for most of our coffees. If you need a larger sample than what’s typically available, we recommend trying one of the smaller quantity options listed on our site. That way, you can test the coffee before committing to a larger order.

What sizes or quantities can I order?

All our green coffee beans come in 0.5kg, 1kg and 5kg bags. Approved wholesale accounts can also order 10kg and 20kg at lower per-kilo prices, and for full sacks or anything larger, just get in touch – we'll help you put a custom order together.
