Fruity Filter Brewing

Green Coffee Beans for Fruity Filter Coffee

Unroasted, fruit-forward green coffee for filter. These are the lots that taste of berries, stone fruit, citrus and tropical fruit when roasted light: berry-heavy naturals, bright washed Kenyans and Colombians, and anaerobic or co-fermented lots for something louder. Buy from 0.5kg with samples on most lots – and for blueberry-and-florals naturals, start with our Ethiopian green coffee beans. Looking for roasted coffee? These are raw beans you roast yourself – here's how to start.

  • Where fruity flavour comes from

Fruit in the cup comes from three places: variety and altitude (high-grown washed Kenyans and Colombians), processing (naturals and honeys that dry in contact with the fruit) and fermentation (anaerobic, extended and co-fermented lots). This range mixes all three, so read each product's process and notes. Our fruity filter buyer's guide goes deeper.

  • Roasting fruity coffees

Keep them light to medium-light – every extra minute of development turns fruit into caramel, then chocolate. Naturals and fermented lots carry more surface sugar and colour quickly, so ease off early heat. Fermented coffees in particular can tip from vivid to boozy, so cup two roast levels before settling.

  • Fruity vs mild filter

If fruit-forward acidity isn't for you or your customers, our mild filter range is the opposite end: chocolate, nut and caramel with softer acidity. For clean, delicate cups between the two, see pour over.

  • Mild Filter Brewing

  • Aeropress Brewer

  • V60 Pour Over Coffee Brewing

Your questions, answered

Which green coffees taste the most fruity?

Natural process Ethiopians, washed Kenyans and anaerobic or co-fermented lots usually show the most fruit. See our anaerobic and natural ranges.

Do fruity coffees always have high acidity?

No. Washed fruity coffees tend to be bright, but naturals often read as sweet and jammy with softer acidity.

What roast level brings out fruit?

Light to medium-light. Longer development converts fruity acids and sugars into caramel and roast flavours.

Can fruity coffees be used for espresso?

Yes, as a bright black espresso – see green coffee for black espresso. They're less suited to milk drinks.

Do you offer samples or trial batches before committing to larger orders?

Yes, we offer samples for most of our coffees. If you need a larger sample than what’s typically available, we recommend trying one of the smaller quantity options listed on our site. That way, you can test the coffee before committing to a larger order.

What sizes or quantities can I order?

We offer coffee starting from as little as 0.5kg (1 lb) all the way up to full sacks. If you’re looking for larger quantities than what’s listed on our site, just get in touch! We’d be happy to help you organise and place a custom order. We're here to make sure you get exactly what you need.
