  • What Makes a Green Coffee a Staple?

Not every coffee can be a staple. To earn a place in this range, a coffee needs to be reliably sourceable year-round, consistent across harvests, and useful to a wide range of roasters. Our four staples - a chocolatey natural Brazil, a fruity natural East African, a clean washed Colombian and a smooth Mexican decaf - cover the bases most roasters need day to day. They're the coffees you can build a menu around and order again without worrying about what you'll get.

  • How We Keep These Coffees in Stock All Year

Most green coffee is seasonal - bought in a single batch and gone when it sells out. Keeping coffees available year-round takes deliberate planning. We work with sourcing partners whose origins offer natural supply advantages: Uganda's position on the equator gives it two distinct growing seasons, and Colombia's bimodal harvest means fresh crop arrives twice a year. On top of that, we order ahead and maintain deeper stock levels than we would for seasonal lots. When a staple does temporarily go out of stock - which can happen in the gap between harvests - we'll always be upfront about it.

  • Can Staple Green Coffee Beans Go Out of Stock?

Occasionally, yes - coffee is an agricultural product, and even the most reliable origins have limits. If a staple runs low while we wait for the next harvest, we flag it on the product page as soon as we know. We won't substitute a different coffee to maintain the appearance of availability. What you order is what you get, and if it's not available right now, we'd rather tell you clearly than ship you something different.

  • What’s the benefit of building a house espresso offering?

Having a house espresso isn’t just about having a signature coffee—it’s about creating a foundation for your business. Here’s why it’s worth considering:

    • Cost-effective: A carefully chosen espresso blend can lower your overall coffee costs without compromising quality.
    • Wide appeal: A well-rounded espresso blend caters to a broad range of customer tastes, from those who love a creamy flat white to those who prefer a strong, bold espresso shot.
    • Consistency: Customers value reliability. When they know they can count on your espresso tasting great every time, they’ll keep coming back.

It also gives your business a clear identity. A house espresso becomes part of your story—a way to stand out while offering something dependable.

Your questions, answered

What green coffees are in the staple range?

Our staple range currently includes four year-round green coffees: a natural Brazil, a natural East African, a washed Colombian and a mountain water decaf from Mexico. Each is chosen for its consistency, flavour reliability and availability across harvests.

How often do the staple coffees change?

Rarely - and never without notice. The whole point of a staple is that you can count on it. That said, we may occasionally update the range if a better or more reliably sourceable option becomes available. If anything changes, we'll communicate it clearly in advance.

Are staple green coffees suitable for home roasters?

Absolutely. Our staples work just as well for a home roaster dialling in a weekly batch as they do for a roastery managing a consistent espresso offering. The minimum order starts from 0.5kg, and you can mix and match with other coffees in our small batch bundle.

What's the difference between staple and seasonal green coffees?

Staples are coffees we stock year-round, planned well in advance to avoid gaps. Seasonal coffees rotate with the harvest calendar - bought in limited quantities and gone until the following year's crop. If you need something you can reorder reliably, staples are the right choice. If you're looking to explore and experiment, seasonal lots are where to look.

Can I buy staple green coffee beans in bulk?

Yes - all staple coffees are available in quantities from 0.5kg up to 30kg, with per-kg pricing that reduces as volume increases. If you're a roastery looking for larger or ongoing supply, get in touch and we can discuss options.

Do staple coffees come from the same farm every time?

Not necessarily the same farm, but always the same origin and the same sourcing partner. Our goal is consistency of flavour and quality across orders, which we achieve through long-term relationships with specialist importers rather than locking to a single producer. We'll always be transparent about any changes.

Are your staple green coffees suitable for espresso?

Yes - all four are well suited to espresso. The natural Brazil and East African work well in blends or as single-origin naturals with chocolatey, fruity profiles. The washed Colombian brings clean citrus and stone fruit clarity. The Mexican decaf is mountain water processed, making it a strong option for a decaf espresso offering without sacrificing cup quality.

What does "year-round availability" actually mean?

It means we plan ahead specifically to keep these coffees in stock, rather than buying opportunistically. We order larger quantities, work with partners who can supply across multiple harvests, and flag any anticipated gaps as early as possible. It's not a guarantee that stock will never run out, but it's a commitment to doing everything we can to make sure it doesn't.
