Key Details:

Description

A single Agtron number tells you the average colour of your roast. It doesn't tell you whether that average is hiding a problem - an uneven roast can produce the same average score as a perfectly even one.

The Omni is built to show you the full picture. Using multiple near-infrared wavelengths that penetrate beneath the bean surface, it captures a colour distribution across your entire sample - so you can see uniformity, roast delta, and peak shift, not just a single score. And because your grind isn't one size either, it doubles as a full particle size analyser, measuring distributions from 100–2500µm.

One compact device, two of the most useful analysis tools in coffee. Built for roasters who've outgrown single-number readings.

Beyond the Average: Why Distribution Matters

Two roasts can share an identical Agtron score and taste completely different, because an average hides variation. A batch with scorched and underdeveloped beans can average out to the same number as an even, well-developed roast. The Omni scans the whole sample and shows you the spread — automatically calculating uniformity, roast delta between whole bean and ground, and peak shift. That's the difference between knowing your roast number and actually understanding your roast.

Lab-Grade Colour Precision

With ±0.1 Agtron precision across the full 0–150 range, the Omni sits at the accuracy level of equipment costing several times more. Multiple near-infrared wavelengths penetrate beneath the surface of the bean rather than reading colour from the outside alone, and there's no warm-up time — readings are ready when you are. Measure whole beans and grounds, and compare the two to understand how your roast has developed through the bean.

A Full Particle Analyzer in the Same Device

Grind consistency shapes extraction as much as roast level shapes flavour. The Omni measures particle distributions from 100–2500µm at 1µm resolution, with automatic particle dispersion and metrics like D10/D50/D90, mode, and standard deviation calculated for you. Use it to dial in a new grinder, compare burr sets, check wear over time, or understand why the same coffee brews differently on different equipment. Fine grinds may benefit from averaging multiple readings for the most reliable picture — small samples are the trade-off for a device this compact.

Roasting coffee is so much easier. No more guess work to know he roast level or ground size.

Frequent Questions

Does the Difluid Omni work with both coffee beans and grounds?

Yes. You can test whole beans for roast degree and coffee grounds for particle size.

Do I need the DiFluid Café app to use it?

No — the Omni works fully standalone via its built-in touchscreen, including real-time distribution graphs. CoffeeOS adds custom sieve stacks, multi-test aggregation, and data logging if you want to go deeper.

Is it compatible with all roast scales?

Yes. It supports COMMON, SCA, and Agtron scales.

Where can I found the Difluid Omni product manual?

You can access the product manual here.

How precise is the Omni particle analysis?

It measures particle sizes from 100µm to 2500µm, giving you a full breakdown of grind size distribution and standard deviation for uniformity.

Can the Omni measure water activity or moisture?

No. The Omni doesn’t measure water activity or moisture content - that’s what the Omix Plus is built for.

Do both the Omni and the Omix Plus support green coffee analysis?

No - the Omix Plus can assess green coffee moisture, water activity, density, and even detect parchment or dried cherry - none of which the Omni supports.

How is the Omni different from the CoffMeter A1?

The A1 gives you a single averaged Agtron score to ±0.5 — ideal for tracking roast level batch to batch. The Omni measures to ±0.1, scans a colour distribution across the whole sample rather than one average, adds uniformity and delta metrics, and includes a complete particle size analyzer. If you want to know your roast number, the A1 does the job. If you want to understand your roast and your grind the Omni is the step up.

What sample size does it need?

The Omni is designed around small samples, which makes it practical for regular use - you're not sacrificing meaningful amounts of coffee to test. For particle analysis of fine grinds, running a few samples and averaging gives the most representative picture.

How do you calibrate it?

A roast calibration plate is included in the box, and calibration is done at home following the on-screen instructions. An optional ColorGuard dual calibration card is available for extra accuracy.

What's in the box?

Main unit, sample prep base, particle base, bean/grounds dish, roast calibration plate, scraper, bean scoop, brush, USB-C cable, and carrying box.
