At the top of the range, the M10 (up to 1.2kg) is built for roasters already producing commercially or about to start. Yes. Every Kaleido roaster in our range works with Artisan, the open-source roasting software used across home and professional roasting. On the M1 Lite and M1 Pro it's the only way to control the machine - there's no tablet option. On the M2, M6, and M10, Artisan is one of several control options: Standard comes with Kaleido's own tablet software, Pro drops the tablet for Artisan-only control via USB or Bluetooth, and Dual gives you both on one machine.

That matters because Artisan isn't a simplified home-roasting tool - it's the same software professional roasters use to build, log, and share profiles. Learning on a Kaleido means you're learning the same vocabulary and workflow that scales up to bigger drum machines later, rather than a closed system whose skills and profiles are locked to one brand.

Both are genuine, serious drum roasters, but they run on different platforms. Kaleido's range is Artisan-compatible throughout and gives you more entry points at lower price points, starting at £865. Aillio's Bullet range runs on its own proprietary RoasTime software rather than Artisan, starts at a higher price point, and has a more established, larger profile-sharing community built up over years.

If Artisan compatibility specifically matters to you - because you want the flexibility of an open platform, or you're planning to move onto other Artisan-controlled machines later - that points toward Kaleido. If you don't have a strong preference on software and want the most established community and profile library available, Aillio is worth a look. Neither is the objectively better choice; it depends on what you're optimising for.

Yes - every Kaleido roaster we stock is built for 230V UK mains, so there's no transformer or voltage conversion needed regardless of which model you choose. The smaller machines in the range (M1 Lite, M1 Pro, M2) need no dedicated circuit or ventilation install; most owners roast comfortably near an open window or with a small fan clearing smoke.
