Location Los Altos de Chiapas, Mexico See on a map

Los Altos de Chiapas, home to vibrant Tzeltal and Tzotzil indigenous communities, is a region steeped in rich coffee-growing tradition. Renowned in the specialty coffee world for its ideal high altitudes, it provides the perfect conditions for cultivating prized traditional varieties like Typica and Bourbon.

Coffee arrived in this region over a century ago, carried by the ingenuity of indigenous farmers. After working on coffee farms in Soconusco, near the Guatemalan border, they brought seeds back to their own land. What began as small plantings soon flourished into larger, thriving coffee plots, creating a legacy of exceptional coffee that continues to this day.
