This lot from Kitale is bright, sweet, and full of character. Blackberry and rosehip notes run through the cup, carried by a juicy texture and layered sweetness that makes it hard to put down. It’s a coffee that captures the vibrancy of western Kenya and shows just how much variety exists beyond the country’s well-known central regions.
The producer is Lot 20 Coffee, founded in 2019 by Sidney Kibet. From a small start, it has grown into a network of farmers across five counties, all linked by a focus on quality, transparency, and community. Farmers are paid premium prices upfront, given seedlings and agronomy support, and encouraged to pass knowledge to younger generations. By keeping processing close to where cherries are grown and value within farming communities, Lot 20 has created the conditions for distinctive lots like this one from Kitale to stand out on the global stage.
