High in the Cordillera mountain range of Atok, Benguet, 72 farming families cultivate this exceptional orange bourbon coffee. Fed by year-round natural springs, the farms offer perfect conditions for producing coffee with a distinct character.

Cherries are handpicked and floated to remove under-ripe and defective fruit, then pulped, fermented, rinsed, and dried on raised beds to preserve their vibrant flavours. The result is a coffee with a bright aroma of calamansi and white grape, complemented by crisp acidity, a velvety body, and a gentle caramel sweetness.

This coffee reflects the dedication of the farmers and the unique terroir of Atok, delivering a cup that’s both vibrant and deeply satisfying.

Cupping Notes

This coffee is a harmonious blend of vibrant flavours and a smooth, rounded profile. It greets you with a bright fragrance, offering notes of calamansi (Philippine lime) and white grape that lend a lively, citrusy sweetness. The flavour is well-developed, with a balanced acidity that enhances the coffee's crisp, clean character, complemented by subtle hints of caramel for a rich, sweet finish. The body is full yet velvety, creating a satisfying mouthfeel that lingers, while the aftertaste leaves a delicate impression of the coffee's nuanced sweetness. This cup strikes an elegant balance between brightness and depth, delivering a delightful experience from start to finish.

Year Started 2015
Location Atok, Benguet, Philippines See on a map

Kalsada is more than just a coffee company—it's a movement dedicated to uplifting Philippine specialty coffee and the hardworking producers behind it. Founded with a vision to showcase the rich potential of Filipino coffee on the global stage, Kalsada partners closely with local farming communities, providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to elevate the quality of their coffee. By investing in state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, and paying farmers over $1 per pound above Fair Trade prices, Kalsada ensures that both quality and sustainability go hand in hand.

This journey began in 2015, when Kalsada brought its dream to life through a Kickstarter campaign that funded its very first community mill in Belis. What started as a modest operation with just a handful of farmers has blossomed into a thriving collaboration with over 72 producers, all committed to crafting exceptional coffee. Through centralized processing at the Belis mill, production has grown from a humble 1.5 tonnes to an impressive 11 tonnes annually—a testament to the dedication of the farmers and Kalsada’s support.

Kalsada’s work is more than numbers; it’s a story of connection, resilience, and a shared passion for coffee. Each bean carries the care of the farmers, the innovation of the mill, and the vision of a brighter future for Philippine coffee. When you choose coffee from Kalsada, you’re not just buying beans—you’re supporting a movement that champions quality, fairness, and the rich traditions of the Philippines.

Meet your sourcing partner

Indochina

Established date 2015

Living in Bangkok in 2015, we were first introduced to specialty coffees from Thailand and surrounding countries. The skill and dedication of the coffee growing communities, processors and exporters we were fortunate to spend time with back then made a lasting impression. On our return to London, the rarity of Asian origins in the specialty coffee scene spurred us into creating Indochina Coffee, as a way to promote the breadth of high quality coffees from across this region.

The bitter truth is that almost all of the wealth derived from the coffee industry continues to bypass the indigenous communities who actually grow it. Responsibly traded specialty coffee has the potential to change this and genuinely improve the lives of coffee farmers and their families. We are committed to working with like-minded partners who share this vision for a fairer future.

Since our inception, we’ve focused on developing long term mutually respectful and beneficial relationships, working with the same producer and export partners since our first coffees landed in the UK in 2017. As we’ve expanded the origins we source from, Christian and Shirani continue to work on a personal level with every origin partners, with regular time spent at coffee farms and processing facilities during the harvest season, to fully appreciate and understand the context in which they are operating in.
