Genetic testing has since shown otherwise - it's actually a rare, distinct Ethiopian landrace, misnamed by coincidence rather than lineage. It first drew real attention in 2021, when producer José Herman Salazar entered a lot from Finca La Guaca in Pitalito, Huila, into the Colombia Cup of Excellence, placing 6th with a score of 89.32. Since then, it's remained the domain of a small number of pioneering producers across Huila and Nariño's high-altitude microclimates) - Santiago among them.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0725/3006/7755/files/0-2_f3d05402-a2c8-4e1b-ada3-407408c1b427.jpg?v=1788531653
edinson-argote-strawberry-coferment
Edinson Argote Strawberry Coferment

Edinson Argote's journey into coffee started at a buying station in Acevedo, Huila, where he was loading and unloading sacks for his cousin at 20 years old - and it was there that his interest in cupping took hold.
